Review: |
This may be one of the most interesting books offered in this catalog, because it uniquely focuses on a group often, and sadly, overlooked in most evangelistic ministries. Using a great many stories which demonstrate this author's close connection with real people who used to call themselves Christians, this book brings its light to shine on people who have left the church. The author simple calls them the "dechurched." In a series of insightful chapters she explores the variety of reasons leading some away from an active faith life. Issues of trauma, addiction, mental illness, and even abuse by those in authority can all play a cause in driving people away from the church. More to the point of this book is the church's need to discover loving and holistic ways to engage a conversation which allows those so hurt to find their way back into a living meaningful faith. |
